India Launch of Various WPC Licence Modules on Saral Sanchar Portal

On 27th July 2020,Indian Regulator Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing (WPC) issued anotification regarding the launch of the various WPC licence modules on SaralSanchar portal.

It is important to notethat licensing from WPC is required for equipment operating in licensedfrequency bands. This notification does not impact equipment which operates indelicensed frequency bands, which will require Equipment Type Approval (ETA)just as before.

In line with India’sdigitization plan, the following licenses issued by WPC will be issued via theSaral Sanchar portal under phase I:

i. Standing AdvisoryCommittee on Frequency Allocation (SACFA)

ii. Fixed/LandMobile-HF/VHF/UHF (Below 806 MHz)

iii. Fixed/LandMobile-HF/VHF/UHF (Above 806 MHz)

iv. TerrestrialBroadcast (FM/Community Station/SW/MW/LPT/HPT/DTT)

v. Radar/AIS/BeaconLicence etc. (Below 806 MHz)

vi. Radar (Above 806MHz)

vii. Captive Trunking(Below 806 MHz)

viii. Captive Trunking(Above 806 MHz)

ix. HAM module

x. SatelliteLicenses-Broadcast Network, Telecom Network, Mobile Satellite Service (MSS), TVChannel endorsement/de-endorsement

xi. Microwave Links(Microwave Access [MWA] and Microwave Backbone [MWB]) for Access ServiceProviders

xii. Links for InternetService Providers (ISP) (FDD & TDD)
