Mexico - Public Consultation Concerning Modifications to Technical Standard IFT-011-2017 Part 2

On 8th September 2020, Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT), the Mexican RF regulator, has issued a public consultation concerning modifications to technical standard IFT-011-2017 Part 2.
IFT-011-2017 part 2 is the technical reference for the current NOM-221/ 2-SCFI-2018 standard, which is applicable to the approvals of cellular devices in Mexico, including mobile terminal equipment operating in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 MHz/2100 MHz and/or 2500 MHz bands.
The main change to the technical standard IFT-011-2017 Part 2 is: mobile terminal equipment should contain all the components that automatically suggest voice calls through the VoLTE functionality, which must be enabled and activated for users.
The public consultation will officially open on 8th September 2020 and will close on 6th October 2020. Before that, anyone interested can submit comments, opinions or suggestions to info.upr@ift.org.mx.
