Malaysia SIRIM Reminds Aeronautical And Maritime Radiocommunications Equipment To Comply With The Latest Technical Specifications

On February 13, 2024, the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) issued an announcement on website, reminding that aeronautical and maritime radio communication equipment should comply with the latest technical specifications. This reminder comes following the approval and publication by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on October 31, 2023, of two new technical codes for the certification of communication and hybrid equipment, as listed below.

A six months grace period is granted by MCMC from the registration date until the full implementation, commencing on May 1, 2024.
Existing Applications: Within the grace period, applicants are allowed to renew their CoC for a maximum period of one year. However, effective May 1, 2024, renewal of the existing CoC will no longer be permitted. Instead, existing approval of the relevant equipment shall be updated and comply with the latest technical codes requirements through the submission of the Parallel by Comparison (PBC) application.
New Application: Applicant is encouraged to comply with the technical codes within the grace period. Full compliance shall be mandatory beginning May 1, 2024.
