Lithium-Powered Mobile Power is Included in Japan's Security Law

Due to the frequent accidents of portable lithium-ion batteries (ie, mobile power) in recent years, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) announced on February 1, 2018 that some of the interpretations of the provincial orders for the development of technical standards for electrical appliances were revised to amend "about electrical appliances. The interpretation of the scope (Heisei 2403·21 Business Bureau No. 1) clearly stipulates that portable lithium-ion batteries (mobile power supplies) will be regulated by the Electric Appliance Safety Law in the future and will be handled in accordance with the regulations of the Electric Safety Act.

Products imported into Japan must meet the requirements of the Japanese PSE regulations and be marked with a round PSE on the products that meet the requirements.

(1) Revision/Implementation: February 1, 2018;

(2) Transition period: January 31, 2019.

From February 1, 2019, it will not be allowed to produce, import or sell any mobile power source that does not comply with the requirements of Japanese PSE regulations.
