Following the MRT news was published on March 15th, 2024, the Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes (ANATEL) in Brazil released the Official Letter nº 100 on March 20, 2024. This letter supplements the applicable scope of Act No. 2436, which came into enforcement on March 10, 2024.
With the Official Letter, the official clarifies that the cyber security testing will be exempted exclusively for those CPE devices used in the corporate environment as they are installed and configured by a professional team with specialized technical knowledge. Furthermore, such equipment operates within corporate networks featuring multiple layers of security and typically does not have direct connections to the Internet service provider’s network.
