Vietnam MIC Type Approval certificate for C-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band VSAT satellite transmitter and transceiver

VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) is a two-way satellite ground station used in telecommunication with satellite or other VSAT. Pursuant to regulation of MIC Vietnam at Circular 42/2016/TT-BTTTT of MIC Vietnam, C-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band VSAT satellite transmitter and transceiver are subjected to MIC Type Approval and Declaration of Conformity. Importer also has to obtain import permit from Vietnam Telecommunication Authority (VNTA) for customs clearance. End-user also has to obtain frequency permit from Radio Frequency Management Authority (ARFM) before use.

1. Applicable regulations for C-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band VSAT transmitter and transceiver

Depends on operating frequencies C-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band, national technical regulations applied for VSAT satellite transmitter and transceiver will be regulated by Circular 42/2016/TT-BTTTT of MIC Vietnam.

2. Type Approval certification procedures and requirements

 Required documents to apply for Type Approval certificate as follows:

(1) Type approval application form;

(2) A copy of Vietnam business license of local applicant;

(3) Product specifications sheet or product data sheet;

(4)  Eligible test reports issued by local laboratories or oversea laboratories recognized by MIC Vietnam under MRA (with appropriate scope).

A Verification and Certification Center of Vietnam Telecommunications Authority (VNTA) shall review the application dossier and issue Type Approval certificate within 2 weeks if the application complies with MIC Vietnam and VNTA regulations.

3. Certification Authorities

Depends on register address of local certificate holder, application documents must be submitted to one of the following address:

(1) The Verification and Certification Center 1 of VNTA located in Hanoi: for applicants having register address in the North of Vietnam;

(2) The Verification and Certification Center 2 of VNTA located in HCMC: for applicants having register address in the South of Vietnam;

(3) The Verification and Certification Center 1 of VNTA located in Da Nang: for applicants having register address in the Middle of Vietnam.

4. Declaration of Conformity and VNTA Import Permit process

After obtaining Type Approval certificate, applicant has to prepare a Declaration of Conformity dossier and apply again to VNTA for DoC.

Required documents for Declaration of Conformity as follows:

(1) Declaration of Conformity form;

(2) A copy of type approval certificate of product;

(3)  Product specifications sheet or product data sheet;

(4) A copy of Business license of applicant;

(5) ICT Mark of applicant (TA mandatory type ICT Mark with both “NAME” and “CODE”).
