Mexico IFT Officially Publishes Technical Operating Conditions Of 5925-6425 MHz

Further to the MRT news on February 24th,2023, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) in Mexico has officially published the technical provisions for 5925-6425 MHz titled “Condiciones técnicas de operación de la banda de frecuencias 5925-6425 MHz” on the Official Gazette of the Federation (Diario Oficial de la Federación, DOF) on March 7th, 2023.
In addition to classify the frequency band 5925-6425 MHz as unlicensed spectrum, the new regulation has defined the technical operating condition for low-power system and very low-power system as follows:

Note:
1. Only operating indoors is permitted.
2. Must have an integrated non-removable antenna and will not have the possibility of connecting external antennas.
3. The maximum channel bandwidth allowed for transmission is 320 MHz.
4. It’s prohibited in the use for unmanned aerial vehicle systems, on ships, oil platforms, automobiles, trains, and airplanes, unless its operation is within large aircraft that fly at altitudes of more than 10,000 feet.
5. Should use Contention Based Protocol.
6. Batteries use is not allowed for Access Points and Subordinate Device, the power supply must be connected directly to the mains socket.
