India WPC Issues SRD Rules for Low-power Devices in the 865-868 MHz Band

On December 10 2021, The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing in India has published gazette GSR 853(E) on the subject “The use of Low Power Equipment in the Frequency Band 865-868 MHz for Short Range Devices (Exemption from Licence) Rules, 2021”. This gazette is introduced for extending the frequency band limit of RFID. The frequency band 865-867 MHz previously used for RFID; Low Power Equipment has been revised to 865-868 MHz.
This Frequency Band (865-868 MHz) is mainly introduced for the below main purposes:
Non-Specific Short-Range Devices
Tracking, Tracing and Data Acquisition Devices
Wideband Data Transmission Systems
Radio Frequency Identification Applications
This rule is effective from the date of publication.
