India BIS Updates Standards

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has updated the following standards:

IS 16046 (Part 1): 2018/IEC 62133-1: 2017 and IS 16046 (Part 2): 2018/ IEC 62133-2: 2017 – Amendment 1 has been implemented and offers a clarification on portable applications. There are no additional requirements with which to comply for existing Applications and Licensees.

IS 1293 “Plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes of rated voltage up to and including 250 V & rated current up to and including 16 A” – the version of the standard IS 1293: 2005 was replaced with version IS 1293: 2019 that will be implemented on October 23, 2020.
