Chile Establishes Requirements for Safety Approval of Double-Capped LED Lamps
Chilean Ministry of Energy adopted Resolution № 21365 of 28.11.2017, which approves safety Protocol PE No. 5/25 applicable to double-capped LED lamps designed to retrofit G5 and G13 linear fluorescent lamps.
These lamps are designed to replace fluorescent lamps without additional modification to the internal wiring of the luminaire.
Starting from March 30, 2019, national manufacturers, importers, and marketers of the foregoing LED lamps must have the respective certificate of safety approval prior to selling their products in Chile. The document should be granted by an accredited certification body and authorized by the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuel (SEC).
Reference standards for the certification procedure of the foregoing products are IEC 62776:2014 and UNE-EN 62776:2015.
