Amendments in the Regulations for RFID in South Africa

Recently, the issue about the certification of Inductive Loop systems including RFID equipment occurred in the band 119-135KHz . The reason was in the application of ISO/IEC 18047-2 that was considered by The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) as not applicable. For this reason, some applications for the certification had placed on hold.

However, at present, the standard ISO/IEC 18047-2 has been removed from the RFID band requirements and certificates for radio equipment operating in the 119-135KHz band are now being issued again.
