Chile SEC Issues Draft Protocol On Safety Assessment Of Audio And Video Electronic Products
Recently, the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels (Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles, SEC) in Chile has released a new Draft Protocol PE No. 8/11:2023 titled “PROTOCOLO DE ANÁLISIS Y/O ENSAYOS DE SEGURIDAD DE PRODUCTO ELÉCTRICO”.
The present protocol establishes the certification process for Audio and Video electronic products which defined the main function by displaying TV transmission with a built-in tuner, and with dimensions less than or equal to 165.1 cm (65”) in diagonal length.
Based on this, Family certification will be considered with different sample quantity requirement depending on the number of models to be certified for those products, which are distinguished by having common characteristics of the materials, manufacturing method, same production plant (geographical location), similar components, and equality of the following parameters:
- Screen type technology
- Screen size
- Power supply
- Protection against electric shock (Class I or Class II)
