China MIIT/SRRC Released New Regulation of Automotive Radars

On 6th December, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China (MIIT) released a new announcement "[2021] No. 181", which contains regulations on radio management of automotive radars.
The 76-79GHz frequency band is planned to be used for automotive radar. The main use scenarios include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Avoidance (CA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Changing Assist (LCA), Parking Assist (PA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Pedestrian Detection (PD), etc. Setting up and using automotive radars on 76-79GHz frequency band does not require applying for a Radio Station License, but it is necessary to apply to the State Radio Regulation Committee for Radio Type Approval Certification.
Announcement No. 181 will come into effect on March 1, 2022. At that time, the State Radio Regulation Committee will no longer accept and approve applications of Radio Type Approval Certification for automotive radars working on the 24.25-26.65GHz frequency band.
