India Cancels 5GHz Band Spectrum Authorization
The government of India has decided to cancel a set of spectrum authorization in the 5GHz band to support WiFi and some 5G businesses.
According to the official announcement, spectrum usage in the 5150-5250 MHz, 5250-5350 MHz and 5725-5875 MHz bands is not required to be approved, and these free spectrum will promote investment in WiFi and 5G in India. "Users are not required to apply for a licence to use or trade any wireless equipment for low-power wireless access systems, including wireless LAN in the 5150-5250 MHz, 5250-5350 MHz and 5725-5825 MHz bands."
The government's move is aimed at promoting the establishment of WiFI business in India and promoting the development of 5G ecosystem. According to the India Bharat Net project, the government will deploy ten million WiFi hotspots in rural areas.
