The EU Approved the Release of 700MHz Band for Mobile Broadband to Promote the Development of 5G
The European Parliament has recently passed a plan, requiring all EU member states to release the 700 MHz band for wireless broadband services by June 30, 2020, to provide faster mobile broadband. At that time, there can be a delay of up to two years if there are legitimate reasons, such as the lack of coordination with neighboring non-EU countries, or the need for more time to redistribute the frequency spectrum of broadcasting services.
At present, the 700MHz band (694MHz ~ 790MHz) is widely used in digital TV signals and wireless microphone services, can easily penetrate buildings and walls, covering a wider range than the higher frequency band in the infrastructure less region.
The EU hopes that the 700MHz band allocation scheme can promote the next generation of 5G mobile technology, 5G technology for unmanned vehicles, telemedicine, and billions of things networking equipment will play a huge supporting role. The 5G will change our economic logic, says Guna Halkmalko, a member of parliament approved by the European Parliament. Only 5G technology can be successfully launched in Europe, effectively using existing frequency bands. The release of 700MHz band plan is the first step, is also very important step.
