Brazil ANATEL Opens Public Consultation To shutdown 2G & 3G

On July 12, 2024, the Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) of Brazil has recently released public consultation Nº36.
To transition gradually from 2G and 3G technologies to 4G and 5G, the consultation aims to update the requirements for assessing the conformity of Access Terminal Stations (ETA) and cellular mobile telephones. It proposes restricting the approval of new equipment that operates only with 3G technology or lower, for use in Personal Mobile Service (SMP) networks.
All concerned parties can submit comments and suggestions before September 19, 2024.
