Malaysia SIRIM Updates Type Approval Requirement for IPv6 Cellular Equipment Without Wi-Fi Interface

On February 10, 2025, the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) issued Announcement SQASI/CMCS/1/25/0001.

In this announcement, SIRIM listed the designated testing laboratories for IPv6 (non-Wi-Fi-enabled) products and informed that the interim approval for IPv6 cellular equipment without a Wi-Fi interface or IPv6 equipment operating over other mediums (e.g., fiber optic) will end on July 10, 2025, and will not be extended.

After July 10, 2025, new applications or certificate renewals for IPv6 (non-Wi-Fi-enabled) products will not be permitted unless the applicant submits a complete IPv6 test report for SIRIM’s evaluation.
