South Korea Updates Vehicle Cybersecurity Certification Rules
Starting from August 14, 2025, according to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) Ordinance No. 1519, South Korea's revised Automobile Management Act requires manufacturers to establish a cybersecurity management system and obtain certification from MOLIT. The updated regulations apply to most vehicles, excluding motorcycles, certain trailers, and emergency vehicles.
The new rules also focus on the certification and investigation of vehicles and vehicle parts. Manufacturers must submit documentation to MOLIT before implementing software updates that impact vehicle safety or components. The ministry will oversee compliance, conduct investigations.
