The National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) in India has recently issued a clarification regarding the inclusion of Wi-Fi Access Points (AP) within the scope of Wi-Fi Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) of Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirement (ITSAR). The clarification affirms that any Wi-Fi product equipped with static or dynamic routing, NATing functionality, or packet filtering functionality is categorized as a Wi-Fi CPE according to the clarification.
Furthermore, it is important to note that starting from July 1, 2023, both Wi-Fi CPEs and IP Routers will be subject to mandatory security testing (ITSAR) under the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE).
