Supplementary Rules for Audio/Video and IT/Office Equipment under UAE’s Low Voltage Equipment Regulation
On 1st April 2020, the UAE’s Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA) implemented a supplementary guideline for the regulation rules of Audio/Video and IT/Office Equipment categorized under the Low Voltage Equipment (LVE) Regulation.
A summary of new requirements is outlined as below:
1. From 20th December 2020, all Audio/Video and IT/Office Equipment categorized as LVE shall comply with the IEC 62368-1 2014 (2nd Edition) and IEC 62368-1:2018 (3rd Edition) standard and have a valid Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued under ECAS/EQM.
2. From 20th December 2021, all products defined under LVE regulation shall comply with IEC 623681:2018 (3rd Edition) and have a valid Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued under ECAS/EQM.
3. The below product categories have been added for grouping intended for EQM applications
1) Stand-alone Audio Products
2) Stand-alone Video Playing and Recording Systems
3) Computing Products
4) Telecommunication Products
5) Printing Products
Moreover, all ECAS/ EQM Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued under the IEC60065 and/or IEC 60950-1 will be considered as invalid/void as of 20th December 2020.
