Peru MTC Releases New Technical Standard

Peru MTC (Ministry of Transport and Communications) releases new technical standard DECRETO SUPREMO N° 019-2019-MTC for cellular products which effect on July 24, 2019.

1. All cellular phones entering the country must be compatible with the reception of messaging system messages of Early Warning of Emergencies (SISMATE) after July 24, 2019.

2. The GSMA TAC registration/certificate is now required with the correct brand and model of the cellular product.

3. MTC has two official procedures, Homologation by VUCE (national certification) and the FCC&IC Recognition. Now only Homologation by VUCE is allowed for cellular products. FCC&IC Recognition procedure is closed and will be open after MTC modifies the procedure to include the new regulation.

4. Cellular products certified with previous standard will be valid to April 5th, 2020.
