Thailand NBTC New Requirements for Li-ion Battery
Thailand NBTC will request IEC 62133 report for product with Li-Ion battery.
On May 1st, 2017 National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand has issued Technical regulation updates for Mobile device.
The standards are:
NBTC TS 1015-2560 (2017) for CDMA
NBTC TS 1027-2560 (2017) for E-UTRA
NBTC TS 1004-2560 (2017) for GSM
This revision mentioned Mobile equipment must meet the safety requirement for Lithium-Ion battery standard.
The accepted standards for battery are either one of the following:
1. IEC 62133: Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes - Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications.
2. TIS 2217-2548: Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes - safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications.
Type approval application for Class B Mobile device, the test reports requested are Radio/RF, Safety, SAR and Safety of battery reports. Please note that battery is a regulated device under Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), therefore if the Lithium battery can be imported/sold separately in Thailand market, the battery itself need to comply to TIS 2217-2548 standard and certified by TISI.
