Indonesia Drafted Technical Standards For Digital Broadcast Radio Transmitters

On November 20, 2023, Indonesia introduced the draft of new technical standards for telecommunication devices used in digital broadcast radio transmitters. The regulation allows the use of digital-based technology standards like Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) and Digital Audio Broadcasting Plus (DAB+). The Directorate General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Information Technology (SDPPI) is currently developing the technical standards, which will apply to all digital broadcast radio transmitter devices produced and used in Indonesia.
The standards cover parameters such as frequency bands (as below), output power, emissions, and modulation.
1. DRM-based Standards:
Frequency bands: 526.5 – 1606.5 kHz, 87 – 108 MHz, and 174 – 230 MHz.
2. DAB+-based Standards:
Frequency band: 174 – 230 MHz.
Stakeholders and community members are invited to provide feedback on the draft technical standard before November 27, 2023.
