India's TEC Announces Exemptions For ADSLx & VDSLx Interfaces And Revisions To Labelling Guidelines

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) in India has issued two important notifications on May 22, 2023. Here are the key details:
1. Exemption for ADSLx & VDSLx Interfaces under MTCTE regulations:
Temporary exemptions have been granted for ADSLx and VDSLx Interfaces under the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) regulations. These exemptions apply to specific Interfaces/Parameters related to the Essential Requirements (ER) of certified products. The exemption will remain valid until June 30, 2023, or until further notice is provided.
2. Revision of Labelling Guidelines in MTCTE Procedure:
The updated guidelines bring changes aimed at enhancing clarity and standardization. The key revisions are as follows:
a. If the height of brand name is more than 6 mm, the TEC logo shall be at least 1/4th of the size of the brand name, the minimum height of TEC logo shall be 6 mm.
b. If the height of brand name is less than 6 mm, the TEC logo may be kept as size of brand name.
c. The requested information along with the TEC logo has been modified.
