Brazil ANATEL Postpones The Mandatory Enforcement Of Act 5159

On October 14th, 2022, the Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes (ANATEL) published new Act N°13423 to postpone the enforced date of Act N°5159, which regulate the technical requirements and test procedures for mobile phone chargers and original scheduled to be in effective on October 26th, 2022.
The main contents of Act N°13423 are as follows:
1. Revoke the original Act N°3481 on October 21st, 2023, which will be replaced by Act N°5159.
2. Remain the effective date of Act N°5159 on October 26th, 2022.
3. Extend the mandatory compliance date of Act N°5159 to October 21st, 2023.
Therefore, during the period October 26th, 2022, to October 21st, 2023, either the old Act N°3481 or the new Act N°5159 is both applicable for chargers under the regulation scope. For more details regarding new Act N°5159, please refer to MRT news published on May 9th, 2022.
