NBTC Will Start the 1800MHz Spectrum Auction Program

The broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Bangladesh (NBTC) will launch the 1800MHz spectrum preparation process in April 26th. Auction participants may submit their applications in June 15th, and NBTC will announce eligible bidders in August 2nd. The auction will start in August 4th. If no tender is received in June 15th, NBTC will further modify the terms of the auction.

According to the draft adopted in April 24th, NBTC will auction three blocks (each 2*15MHz) spectrum, each with a bottom price of 37 billion 450 million baht ($1 billion 200 million) and a licence valid for 15 years. All bidders must pay 1 billion 870 million baht as a deposit for auction. If there is only one bidding, the regulatory authorities will postpone the auction for another 30 days.
