FCC Approval of the SpaceX Satellite Broadband Plan
The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently approved the application of SpaceX, an American space exploration technology company under Elon Musk, allowing the Aerospace Corporation to use satellites to provide broadband services in the United States and around the world. FCC said in a statement: "through this action, the committee will further take measures to improve the availability and competitiveness of high-speed broadband in the United States." This marks the first time that FCC has allowed us companies to provide broadband services through low earth orbit satellites. SpaceX's proposed satellite system includes 4425 satellites, including Ka and Ku band frequencies, to provide global Internet connection services.
