AT&T Spectrum Deployment or Need Dish Power
Sources said that AT&T is quietly deploying 700MHz spectrum in New York and other markets, and may carry out spectrum trading with Dish.
It is reported that this deployment is to increase system capacity and increase speed, 6MHz adjacent D block and E block spectrum, as a supplement to the PCS and WCS spectrum. With these two bands of spectrum, AT&T can cover 1/4 of the population in some big cities.
Some experts have analyzed that AT&T has only one 6MHz spectrum in its hands, which can cover another 75% of the population, so Dish's 29 segment spectrum will become AT&T's treasure. If the deal succeeds, AT&T will return the 600MHz spectrum acquired this year as a reward to Dish. AT&T is America's carrier with the highest spectrum share in the low spectrum, so it is possible to use these low frequency bands in exchange for other spectrum resources conducive to its own market development.
