In 2025, the Number of 5G Connections Will Reach 1 Billion 400 Million
The global network of 5G connections will reach 1 billion 400 million by 2025, as operators see fixed wireless access as a key source of revenue, according to a new study.
Juniper Research expects an average annual growth rate of 232% from 2019, when the number of connections will reach 1 million. China, the United States and Japan had the largest number of 5G connections in the period, accounting for 55% of the total, analysts said.
The prediction is more radical than GSMA's prediction, which predicted in February that there would be 1 billion 100 million 5G connections by 2025.
Juniper Research senior analyst Sam Barker said: "operators and equipment vendors must test the network in a real world environment to ensure that speed can compete with fiber services.". The network with the highest speed and maximum reliability will occupy the highest ARPCs and accelerate the return of operators on 5G investment."
