AT&T Launches US First 5G Test Service
Although the 5G technology standard is still in development, but the US telecom operator AT & T recently announced that it has launched the first US-based millimeter-wave technology, 5G commercial customer testing services.
AT & T said that Intel became the first customer to test the 5G service. It is reported that Intel's office building in Austin, Texas will be the first to use 5G services. AT & T provides G-class bandwidth for this location. The two sides will simultaneously test Internet access, VPN, unified communications applications, 4K video streaming and other services. It is reported that the test will also show 15GHz and 28GHz band 5G VoIP performance. The two companies said that when the transfer rate up to 14.4Gbps.
5G has become a new round of communication terminal manufacturers fierce competition arena, this progress is to bring ordinary users 5G is an important milestone. "This trial operation marks a major step forward," said Rick Hubbard, senior vice president of network product management at AT & T. "Our technology has left the lab and started approaching business users in the real world." AT & T said, 5G will be much in the field of autopilot.
5G officially launched before the first need to unify the industry standard. According to the plan, the first phase of the 5G standard will be released in 2018.
AT & T's main competitor in 5G Verizon has announced in June to test the 5G network, announced in July to complete the 5G technical specifications and field testing, and partners to explore the technology how to use radio waves, infrastructure and other issues. Earlier this year, there were reports that Google was testing millimeter-wave technology for high-speed Internet access. It is reported that another Internet giant Facebook is also based on the research of high-frequency network technology.
