South Korea KT will be Completed 5G Network Deployment in September 2017

According to foreign media reports, South Korean operators KT plans in September 2017 to complete its 5G network deployment. In addition, KT's 5G trial network is scheduled to be launched in February 2018.

KT will install the 5G network as a test platform in the Olympic host city Pyeongchang, neighboring areas and parts of Seoul in order to introduce the advanced mobile technology in Korea. The network will undergo a four to five month stable testing process to provide 5G mobile services during the Olympic Games in February 2018.

Korea KT vice president Oh Seong-mok said: 5G speed is difficult to achieve in the high-floor area. KT has deployed a 5G field test network near Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul. We have been steadily improving our network capabilities to achieve 2.5Gbps speed. We will increase the speed to 5Gbps during the Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
