Vietnam Started Phasing Out 2G Mobile Services in September 2024

As of September 16, 2024, Vietnam has begun phasing out 2G mobile services. GSM-only devices are no longer supported, except in specific cases such as machine-to-machine (M2M) communications or in remote areas.

By September 16, 2024, telecom operators must ensure that no general subscribers are using GSM-only devices, or they risk losing their 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency licenses. The complete shutdown of the 2G network is scheduled for September 15, 2026.
