ACMA Opened Public Consultation on New LIPD License
On March 19, 2025, The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) opened a public consultation on new ‘’Low Interference Potential Devices Class Licence’’ draft.
Compared with the current LIPD licence, this draft has the following key updates:
1. Update the existing instrument
a. Creation of separate tables for each category of transmitter and listing limitations under each table
b. Updating references to ETSI standards that are outdated or no longer exist.
c. Modify the restrictions on some frequency bands
2. Add new items
a. Wireless multi-channel audio system (WMAS)technologies for wireless audio transmitters
b. Frequency hopping radiocommunications transmitters in the 5925-6425 MHz band
c. Digital modulation radiocommunications transmitters in the 5150-5250 MHz band
d. RLAN radiocommunications transmitters in the 6425-6585MHz band
e. Radiodetermination radiocommunications transmitters in the 13.4–14 GHz band
f. Radiodetermination radiocommunications transmitters in the 76-77 GHz band
All parties concerned can submit comments and suggestions to ACMA before 19 May, 2025.
