RRA of South Korea Issues Stricter Security Requirements for IP Cameras

 

The National Radio Research Agency (RRA) of South Korea announced on August 20, 2025, a public consultation on a partial revision of the Technical Standards for Terminal Devices. The revision is intended to significantly strengthen the security of IP cameras.

 

Key Points of Revision:

 

1.     Requirement for strong password combinations.

 

2.     Requirement for access blocking mechanisms.

 

3.     Requirement for alternative secure authentication methods (e.g., keys/tokens) for cloud service devices in compliance with national standard KS X 3078.

 

The revised standards are scheduled to take effect six months after the official announcement, on February 20, 2026. The public may submit feedback to the RRA until October 20, 2025.
