Chile SUBTEL Issued New Resolution 737
The Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) in Chile has released a new Resolution 737 to update the current Resolution 1985, introducing significant changes to the certification framework for Short-Range Devices (SRDs).
According to the new regulation, SUBTEL will no longer issue approval certificates for most low-power devices. Instead, such devices will be subject to a manufacturer’s declaration of conformity. However, certain medical devices will still require SUBTEL approval, such as MICS systems and medical data collection equipment operating in the 430–440 MHz frequency band.
In addition to changes in the certification process, the new resolution mandates the inclusion of a QR code on product labeling, allowing the public to access detailed technical information about the manufacturer and the device.
The main changes introduced by Resolution No. 737 are as follows:
1. Mandatory QR Code labeling (minimum size 1 cm x 1cm) on the product packaging.
2. The QR Code has to link to a Spanish-language website containing the following information:
a) Manufacturer or importer information
b) Technical characteristics of the equipment
c) Conformity Declaration
The new regulations will take effect on February 22, 2026.
