BIS Safety Approval Scheme – New Circular Issued Relating to Labelling Requirements

Further to the PCS’ Regulatory Updates dated 13th August 2018 and 3rd September 2018 concerning BIS labelling requirements, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued a further Circular on 6th September 2019, clarifying labelling requirements.

The new Circular clarifies the following points:

1. All products must be labelled with either the product itself, its packaging or both should be labelled with this information.

2. The label referencing the BIS website is required on the product and/or packaging, even if this information has already been provided on the product’s e-label.

3. Any registered products which are meant to be integrated or built into a host product, must also comply with this marking requirement until it is integrated into the host product.
