SRRC Releases Technical Requirements And Test Methods For IPv6 Wireless LAN Equipment

On October 23, 2023, the Radio Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in the People's Republic of China issued the "Notice of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Matters Relating to the Testing of the Ability of Wireless LAN Equipment to Support IPv6 Protocol in Type Approval Procedure".
This notice is a result of relevant public consultation in May 2023. According to the notice, Wireless LAN equipment with the function of allocating public IP addresses should support the IPv6 protocol (referred to as IPv6 wireless LAN equipment), the production or importation of such equipment as it will be sold and used in China, the applicant shall apply to the radio administration agency and obtain the type approval certificate in accordance with the relevant provisions. The IPv6 wireless LAN equipment shall comply with the "Notice on Strengthening and Standardization of Radio Management in the 2400 MHz, 5100 MHz and 5800 MHz Frequency Bands" and other relevant provisions of radio management requirements.
The above notice will be effective from December 1, 2023. Wireless LAN equipment produced or imported before this date can continue to be sold and used until its End of Life (EOL).
