Brazil ANATEL Releases New Act 13011 For Mobile Phone Chargers

To follow the MRT News issued on May 9, 2022, the Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes (ANATEL) has published new Act N°13011 on September 1, 2023, to postpone the implementation date of Act N°5159 “TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND TEST PROCEDURES FOR ASSESSING THE CONFORMITY OF CHARGER USED IN A MOBILE CELL PHONE”.
With the new Act, the enforcement of Act N°5159 will be put off from 540 days to 720 days after its publication. Manufacturers will be able to approve their chargers based on Act 3481/2019 (Old Act) or Act 5159/2022 (New Act) until April 14, 2024.
However, on April 14, 2023, the Act N°5159 will become mandatory enforced, meanwhile, the actual Act N°3481 will be repealed. For more details on Act N°5159, please contact the MRT team.
