India's NCCS Introduces Voluntary Security Certification For IP Routers And Wi-Fi CPE

On August 25, 2023, the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS), under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in India, announced the issuance of a Voluntary Security Certification (VSC) for IP Routers and Wi-Fi Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), effective from September 1, 2023. The fees for administrative and security test report evaluation have been waived until further notice or until December 31, 2023, whichever comes first.
OEMs, importers, dealers, and users of telecom equipment interested in obtaining this voluntary security certificate can apply using the provided format on the NCCS website. Currently, offline applications are being accepted, and applicants are required to submit a completed application form along with the necessary documents to the NCCS.
