India TEC has published the Essential Requirements (ER) which defines mandatory testing requirements to obtain TEC for selling telecom products under the new certification program Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments (MTCTE). This refers to all equipment with terminal-telecom features or those capable of being used with telecom equipment.
For example, equipment operating on 2.4/5Ghz frequency bands such as Data card/dongle, Wi-Fi access point/CPE, Wi-Fi modems, point-to-point radio systems, Wi-Fi/WLAN controllers. Other products, such as server, router, switches, and network security systems are still under pending confirmation from officials and may be added later.
This is mandatory starting October 1st, 2018. Other country’s EMC/CB/SAR reports are acceptable until March 31st, 2019 if they’re accredited by ILAC and meets all technical, safety and security, requirements and parameters described in the ER of the product. Local testing will be mandatory starting April 2019. The certificates will be valid for 5 years and no testing is necessary during renewal if there are no modification on the produce.
