India Telecom Operators Strongly Requested that the Frequency Spectrum Auction be Held Temporarily
Indian telecom carriers Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular have said publicly that there is no need to organize spectrum auctions and related consulting activities as industry insiders are concerned about the downturn and tax revenues caused by fierce competition Decline and other issues.
It is reported that Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio, strongly urged regulators to take a long view and rationally plan auction activities and recommended that the telecommunications sector provide a forward-looking timetable of the available bands for each band in the next ten years the number of spectrum. As a 4G newcomer, Reliance Jio suggested cutting the floor price in each band by half and strongly urged regulators to remove 50% of the in-band spectrum cap.
Sunil Mittal, chairman of Badi Telecom, said in a submission that the best time to hold an auction is from the end of 2018 to 2019, and the auction and price consultation process should start in September-December 2018. "If the auction was held recently, these spectrum would not be able to realize its true value."
Creators think it is "inappropriate" to hold a consultancy exercise at the moment and say no company intends to buy more spectrum because telecom companies are not able to afford even the current spectrum costs in a loss-competitive industry.
