Pakistan Plans to Conduct 5G Testing by 2020
Pakistan will conduct 5G mobile network testing by 2020. Telecommunications regulators have started technical standards and operators invited and other related work.
Syed Ismail Shah, chairman of the Pakistan Telecom regulatory authority (PTA), said the government would encourage domestic companies to conduct 5G testing, including free licensing of tests and spectrum. For the 5G test before the standard release, the relevant departments will publish a letter of intent (EoI) for understanding. In addition, Shah also said PTA and the Department of information technology (MoIT) has made many efforts to strengthen domestic broadband access technology, improve the service quality at the same time, also want to keep pace with modern technology.
At present, 5G mobile broadband has not been put into use in any country in the world, but the United States, the United Kingdom, China and South Korea all regard 2020 as the deadline for starting their business.
