In July 2025, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Oman announced that the nationwide shutdown of 3G networks had been completed. Due to technical reasons, a few 3G base stations around Muscat International Airport are temporarily exempt from the shutdown. On July 30, 2025, the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) of India simplified the security certification process for End-of-Sale (EoS) and End-of-Life (EoL) telecom devices. Manufacturers are no longer required to submit internal test reports for ITSAR compliance. Instead, they can apply for a provisional security certificate by declaring EoS/EoL dates and submitting a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC). The certificate will remain valid for five years or until the EoL date, whichever comes first.

On July 11, 2025, the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) issued a draft Technical Code “Internet of Things – Functional Safety Requirements”, which establishes the requirements of functional safety for IoT systems.
